A snapshot of what’s going on in the world’s economy.  Financial Ructions and book reviews can be a bit more technical so feel free to skip them.  See disclaimer at the end of this note.

Summary

  • More companies are seeing things slow in the US and more examples of companies increasing their prices and seeing volume (the amount of stuff they sell) contract.
  • A few areas of the economy are still strong: Caterpillar (Agriculture, Mining and Construction) and Super Luxury (Hermes).
  • Eurozone economy is flattish, but core inflation remains elevated.
  • More examples of how higher interest rates continue to slowly steamroll their way through the economy.
  • The global manufacturing recession appears to be well under way.
  • A bit more from Henry Hazlitt.
